Happy Friday!!

Fridays make me so happy, especially when I have the following Monday off. Having worked during the weekends for a good portion of my working "career" makes you appreciate working M-F.

Summer is winding down slowly and I can honestly say that this has been the best Summer to date. I was able to go on a couple of vactions and spend lots of time with my friends, family, and SO. I'm sad to see the sun setting earlier and earlier and the weather turning chilly. I love Fall though, because Fall comes with cute clothes and everything pumpkin!

Even though it is August 19th, stores are already displaying Halloween and Christmas things. I am moving back home at the end of September which means that I'll have a little more $$$ for the holidays but no more decorating my tiny space of my own. It's a bittersweat feeling.

I been crocheting a bit more and am excited to say that I've finally become okay at it. I don't want to toot my own horn but the things I'm making look really cute! It's one thing to look at your work and see what it is, but it's another thing when you show someone your project and they are really impressed with what you've done. The first thing I made was a wonky cellphone/mp3 case that was too small and crooked to hold anything. The 2nd thing I made was a scarf from scraps that I gave to my niece. This is what I'm working on now and the thing I'm most proud of

It seems like everyone will be getting handmade things this holiday. Sorry in advance to everyone for your crocheted hats, scarves, cellphone cases, ponchos, doillies, washclothes, and everything else yarny.

Reconsideration

So my blog is not very active. I initially created it with the intent of writing about my purchase finds with coupons but considering I only buy things every once in a while, my blog is very sparse. Maybe I'll revamp it to include cutesy things that I find.

I had a Groupon for Frostbites, a very yummy yummy sorbet/custard/crepe place by my house. The first time I had this treat, I fell in love. When I move back home at the end of September I will really miss this cute little shop.

The coupon I had was for $8 worth of stuff for $4. I had the coupon in my hot little hand for longer than necessary. I never buy $8 worth of sorbet so I wanted to split it with a friend. The coupon was due to expire in a few days.

Saturday rolls around and my girlpals and I decide to go out and have some girly (read: DRUNK) fun. Well we had a little too much fun (RALPH) and we're suffering the next day. After lying around the couch and the floor like salted slugs, we headed over to Frostbites and had the prefect treat on a hot day. We all felt better afterwards.

A couple we know just had their first baby. A sweet little boy named after his father. Parents-to-be often get a lot of baby items throughout the pregnancy and after the baby is born. Everything is so much cuter when it's teeny-tiny. I wanted to the get the new parents a baby gift that's more for decoration than practical (oops)

Anway, I'll see what other cute things I find and report back. Toodles

First day back, 30+ days later

I'm already slacking on my bloggering. I figured I don't need to write everyday (or at all for that matter since no one reads my stuff) since it's not everyday that I buy something. Here's a small recap of some stuff:

1. I used my sugaring Groupon:
I had purchased a coupon for sugaring, which is a form of waxing/hair removal done with a concoction of sugar, honey, and water. Brandy, my sugarer(erererer) assured me that it would be less painful, less irritating, and I will love it.

Well she lied.

It hurt like a motha. Since I was going on vacation, I decided to do the whole shebam and get everything removed. I winced throughout the 45 mins of her ripping my skin off. Then I decided to get my upper lip done. *note to you* don't get anything on your face waxed before a big event unless you're okay with looking like you're having a mass eruption of cold sores.

In the end, I ended up paying $35 for the Groupon, and additional $10 for the lip, and then about $15 for the tip. I also didn't get my free pair of panties like the coupon promised, but I didn't even bring that up.

Brandy, I did not love sugaring. I did not like having to strip down in front of you. I did not like you patting my stuff and calling me a good girl. I will not return.

2. My trip to Costa Rica was AMAZING
There is not a whole lot more to say than that. This is what we did there:

Day1-Arrive, CR National Museum, dinner with family
Day2- White water rafting
Day3- Visit to Volcano Poas, visit to La Paz waterfalls and Wildlife Reserve, nightclub
Day4- Race track in which my cousin raced his car, travel to Manuel Antonio beach and one of the best meals of my life
Day5- Zipline/Canopy tour, dinner later
Day6-Manuel Antonio national park and beach exploring
Day7- Sad day (because we left) but we still managed to fly aboard a cessna plane and shop for souvenirs

3. Exercise and crap
So I really buckled down and worked out more in May and June than I have in my whole life. Despite my body building attitude, I didn't get great results. Should I keep exercising? Yes. Do I want to? Heck no.

But I still bought another Groupon for a bootcamp class that starts in two weeks (pats self on the back). This one is for 12 weeks of bootcamp through Live In Fit
http://www.liveinfit.com/
The rep for this place was pretty awesome, answering all of the questions posted on the Groupon wall. Even when the deal sold out, they still made it available to purchase through their website for the same price.

I don't like working out all by myself. I can't sit at home and do 100 push ups or squats. That just doesn't work. So I go for these exercise classes because they're cheap and fun (like me). I keep thinking "Gee, what will happen when this class ends?" Luckily another one comes up and I can continue

See you in 30 days!!

Turdsday: BCOR follow up

I started my 6 week boot camp class yesterday. I've been doing pretty well with exercise the last month and a half. Our Costa Rica trip is hanging over my head and the only reason I've been hitting the cardio so hard is to get in shape for a bikini. I have 3 weeks to go!!! Even though it might rain all day and night during our vacation, I can still look good under my jeans and poncho, right?

It's actually been kind of fun. I hate working out usually because i just go run on the beach or on a treadmill and that is so ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz. These boot camp/exercise classess allow you to have access to all kinds of exercises and equipment you wouldnt usually have.

Anyway, back to BCOR. It's pretty close to where I live. The morning class is at a different location than the evening class. My friend Jen also bought the deal and her hard-core tush goes to the morning class and the evening class. Pshaw.

It's in a little plaza next to Quinn's which has the best cupcakes in the world!! I shall abstain though, because I'm healthy and junk (and because it's already closed when I get there). The gym is teeny tiny and there are like 3 different things going on at once, so it's a little all over the place. I arrived and signed the waiver and I was ready to go. It's mostly toning with weights and stuff which is cool since I do tons of cardio @ kickboxing but hardly and weights. I'm a happy camper with the class.

toodles

First Post EVAH!!!

It's Monday, June 6th, 2011 (duh)

I've just bought another coupony-thing. I'm officially hooked. I've bought about 7 in the past but I can now proudly say that I'm a couponer. My latest purchase is for 6 weeks of unlimited boot camp classes in Cypress. That's like, the city I live in and junk!! The value? $209 (yes dollars!) What I paid for it? $35. Linky:

http://www.groupon.com/los-angeles/

I happen to think that this coupon-movement is fantastic. When I tell people about the deals and the websites, they just go: Meh. Meh? It's doing cool things that you may never have done before and doing them for a lot cheaper. I think some people may not be into it because they've been a victim of the dreaded "expiration date". Yes folks, some deals expire, so pay attention and don't buy it unless you can commit. I bet this happens to a lot of exercise classes. It almost happened to me. I waited until the last.possible.moment to use another boot camp and dreaded the first day. Guess what? I loved it! And that's how I know that I won't let this deal go bad. That and the impending task of squeezing into a bikini 3.5 (!!!!) weeks from now in beautiful Costa Rica. Here I go!
